Vicki's practice primarily focuses on adults who suffer from symptoms associated with trauma. While various events in life may cause Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress
(C-PTSD) Vicki has learned that symptoms often begin early in life through family neglect or other difficult family relations. If your emotions and esteem feel challenged by early traumatic experiences and memories, know that you do not have to spend the rest of life getting over childhood. Vicki has tools to share with you that she believes can help. The first step is your motivation to change.
As a trauma informed therapist, Vicki assists clients to realize their power to feel safe in regulating emotions by offering tools to maintain healthy coping skills during anxiety or panic. By utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) along with Mindfulness techniques Vicki reports "miracles happen."
Simply put CBT may be described as a method to reframe negative thoughts into positive, higher functioning ones. Mindfulness activities provide tools to self-utilize methods to manage anxiety.
Dr. Francine Shapiro, founder of EMDR describes EMDR as “an integrative psychotherapy approach. It has been extensively researched and shown effective for the treatment of trauma….the goal of EMDR therapy is to leave you with the emotions, understanding, and perspectives that will lead to healthy and useful behaviors and interactions”.

Vicki also combines traditional therapy with holistic approaches through an understanding of the ancient philosophy that total health combines mind, body and spirit. As a former teacher and current student of yoga, Vicki views movement and breath work as important tools for healing.
